Changing computers
Transfer your licence and your sites to a new Mac or PC, without losing anything.
1. Back up your sites
On the old computer, for each site:
- Open the site.
- Go to TOWeb Settings › General › Backup & Restore.
- Click Back up now and save the file to a USB stick, a drive or a shared folder. You can Password-protect the backup.
The backup contains the whole site: pages, products, media and theme.
2. Release your licence
Still on the old computer, open the License screen and click Deactivate. Confirm: the licence is released and can be reactivated with the same key on another computer.
Remember to deactivate
A key can be activated on a limited number of computers. If you forget to deactivate the old one and the key has reached its limit, TOWeb tells you: deactivate another machine, or contact support.
3. Install TOWeb on the new computer
- Install TOWeb 15.
- Open the License screen, paste your key under Already have a key? and click Activate.
4. Restore your sites
- TOWeb Settings › General › Backup & Restore › Choose a backup file….
- Enter the password if the backup is protected, then click Restore.
- Choose where to restore the site, then open it from the home screen.
5. Re-enter your passwords
For security, saved passwords (FTP or SFTP connection, AI keys) are encrypted for the computer that saved them. On the new computer, TOWeb simply asks you to enter them again.
