Phrasing your requests well

The first request that works, the instruction that avoids detours, and examples to reuse.

A first request that works

Present your project as you would to a web designer, and ask it to suggest styles before building:

Copy, then adapt

You are my web designer. With TOWeb, create a new site for my physiotherapy practice in Bordeaux: home, treatments, rates and contact. Before building, suggest 3 suitable TOWeb styles. Use only the tools of the toweb server: no screen control, no web search, no file reading

The assistant presents three TOWeb styles; you choose, and it builds the site.

The instruction that avoids detours

Add to your requests “Use only the tools of the toweb server: no screen control, no web search, no file reading.” TOWeb’s styles and templates are not on the web: without this instruction, some assistants look for them there, or try to control the screen.

Working page by page

One request per page or per topic gives better results than a whole site at once, and spares your assistant’s quota. Look at the result in TOWeb, then ask for adjustments.

Useful requests

  • Create a new site for Atelier Lumen, a photographer in Nantes, with 3 pages: home, gallery and contact. Choose a sober TOWeb style yourself
  • Add a Pricing page with three plans, between Services and Contact
  • On the home page, rewrite the title and introduction in a warmer tone
  • Replace the header image on the home page with a photo of vineyards at sunset
  • Change the main colour to midnight blue, and choose more elegant fonts
  • Suggest another TOWeb style for this site, and apply it if I agree
  • Add a shop with 4 products, their prices and their photosAdd a Book page: a table for 2 to 8 people, Tuesday to Saturday, lunch and dinner
  • Add a 6-question FAQ at the bottom of the Services page
  • Add French and Spanish, and translate the whole site. Keep Atelier Lumen as it is
  • Check the site before publishing, and fix what can be fixed
  • Prepare the publication

Don’t like a change?

Just say so: “Undo your last change.” You can also undo it yourself in TOWeb.
