ChatGPT and Codex
Connect the ChatGPT desktop app and Codex to TOWeb with a single button.
The ChatGPT desktop app and Codex share the same configuration: a single button connects both.
To install them: download ChatGPT or install Codex from OpenAI’s official website.
Connecting ChatGPT and Codex
- In TOWeb Settings › AI, click Add to ChatGPT.
- Quit ChatGPT or Codex completely, start it again, then open a new conversation.
Checking
In Codex, type this command:
Codex
/mcp
toweb should appear as connected.
Good to know
- Start Codex normally, never as administrator.
- Don’t use Create custom MCP server: that window only accepts online servers. TOWeb’s Add to ChatGPT button is all you need.
- To avoid approving every action, type this command in Codex:Then choose Approve for me or Full Access. On Windows, if Enter doesn’t confirm a choice, type its number.Codex
/permissions - Add to your requests “Use only the tools of the toweb server: no screen control, no web search, no file reading.” Without this instruction, Codex may try to control the screen.
- The ChatGPT app may see TOWeb without using it: this is a known issue at OpenAI. If it happens to you, use Codex.
