Gemini

Connect Gemini CLI to TOWeb, and stop it from searching the web.

TOWeb connects to Gemini CLI, Google’s Gemini assistant that you use in a terminal. The button appears when Gemini CLI is installed on your computer.

To install it: install Gemini CLI from Google’s official website.

With Node.js, you can also install it with this command, in a terminal:

TerminalBash / Shell
npm install -g @google/gemini-cli

Connecting Gemini

  1. In TOWeb Settings › AI, click Add to Gemini.
  2. Open a terminal in an empty folder and start Gemini with a fast model:
    TerminalBash / Shell
    gemini -m flash
“flash” always means the current fast model: see Google’s Gemini models page.

Checking

In Gemini, type this command:

Gemini CLI
/mcp

The toweb server should appear, with its tools.

Good to know

  • With a personal Google account, “Sign in with Google” may be refused. In that case, create a free API key in Google AI Studio and give it to Gemini.
  • When Gemini starts, choose Use Gemini API Key and paste your key. Keep it to yourself: never publish it anywhere.
  • Gemini tends to search the web for “TOWeb”, where it finds nothing useful. Write in your request “Use only the tools of the toweb server: no screen control, no web search, no file reading.”
