Right of Withdrawal: is your online store compliant?

June 22, 2026
right of withdrawal

Your online store automatically becomes compliant with the new European legislation after a simple installation and republication of your site using this Free update for TOWeb 14 users.

A European obligation, already in force

Since 19 June 2026, the right of withdrawal applies to online shops: it is already applicable and mandatory in France and Germany, and will soon extend to the rest of the European Union as the directive is transposed. In practice, any e-commerce site selling to consumers (B2C) must clearly inform its customers of their right to withdraw from a purchase within the legal period.

Failing to comply means exposure to fines and penalties — not to mention the risk to your brand and your customers' trust. If you sell online, compliance is no longer optional.

With TOWeb, it's automatic

Good news: TOWeb 14.07 handles everything by default. As soon as your site includes a shop (catalogue + cart), TOWeb automatically adds a "Withdraw from contract here" link that lets your customers exercise their right — your site becomes compliant with no manual setup.

You stay in control:

  • Place the link wherever you want by simply inserting the %TW-WITHDRAWAL-LINK% field in your pages (ideally in the footer, so it stays visible everywhere).
  • Configure or disable the feature (withdrawal period, etc.) from the E-Commerce › Withdrawal screen.
  • In the event of a withdrawal, you and your customer will receive an email notification and the customer's order status will be automatically updated and managed by your website's back office.

A simple update to TOWeb 14.07 is all it takes to be compliant.

Take it further with WebLegal

TOWeb adds the button and handles the notification automatically — but your legal texts still need to reflect this new withdrawal function. That's where WebLegal comes in: it generates your Terms of Sale and withdrawal notice in line with Directive (EU) 2023/2673, with the exact wording required in your country (France, Germany, and the rest of the EU as the directive is transposed).

And the two tools fit together perfectly: give WebLegal the URL of the withdrawal link TOWeb added to your site, and your Terms of Sale will point to it correctly — button, acknowledgment email, and legal texts finally consistent with one another. All as a one-time purchase, no subscription, and available in 14 languages.

👉 Check your shop for free with the WebLegal scanner, then generate your compliant documents in minutes — securing your entire shop, well beyond a single link.
