Website generated up to 3 times faster than before |
Version 4 have numerous optimizations that can help build your website up to 3 times faster than a previous version of TOWeb, especially if your site contains lots of texts and/or many topics. Furthermore inserting images in topics can also be up to 2 times faster than before, as well as applying different settings to several images (quality, size, border, ...)

Import & export email contacts in text file |
This feature allows you to import your contact emails from a text file if you already have a database of existing contacts and/or to export them to a text file for instance to transfer them to another of your TOWeb site, or to import them to an external mailing management solution. This feature is available under the Publish> Notify your contact step.

Support for Unicode |
TOWeb now allows you to mix without any constraint multiple character sets for multiple languages within the same paragraph/site. Example:

For multilingual websites, if a bi-directional language like Hebrew or Arabic is added to the languages list, it is automatically managed by TOWeb, relevant pages are displayed right to left (right menu, left panels, etc. ... ). There is no option to activate to take advantage of this new feature, just open your website with TOWeb V4.

New additional paragraph element "Google Maps" |
This new paragraph element allows you to insert Google Maps into your site without scripting. The map is either static (fixed image) or dynamic (the visitor can move/zoom the map with it's mouse, and can add markers on it). This new feature is available while editing a paragraph from the Topics > Edit the topic content > Add also to this paragraph step.

New additional paragraph element "YouTube video" |
This new paragraph element allows you to insert YouTube videos into your site without scripting. You can select the player size and display related videos in the same paragraph. This new feature is available in editing paragraph from the Topics > Edit the topic content > Add also to this paragraph step

Topic "under construction" not published |
A topic with this option enabled will be generated in local preview with an information banner under his main title to remind you that it will not be published. Unlike the "No menu button for this topic" that merely hide an item from the menu but publish the topic, with the "Topic under construction" option, the topic is completely ignored in the publication. It is not generated at all during the publication, is not indexed by the search engine, etc. .. This option is available from Topics > Design and layout step.

Displaying blog comments in reverse chronological order |
This will display the last comment posted first. This option is accessible from the Settings > i-Services > Blog > Configure step.
|
|
Hide a photo album or catalog item/product |
This allows you not to publish a photo or item/product catalog without deleting it from it's topic. This option is available from the Topics> Modify the contents step, under the list of photos or items.
|
|
Elements (zoomed images, terms of sale ..) superimposed on the site |
This more modern way to view images or text content also prevents the opening of an external popup window which may be closed immediately by an anti-ads software. This option is enabled by default, and you can select the style of the overlay popup from the Theme > Topic > Overlay popup step.

|
Add sharing buttons (Facebook, Twitter ..) automatically in your paragraphs |
This allows social networking users who visit your website to promote and spread it to other people in a single click on these buttons. This may increase the popularity of your website and then optimize your search engine ranking. This option is available from the General tab of the Topics step.

|
New navigation bar in albums & catalogs |
The new navigation bar displays the total number of photos/items available and provides direct access to a photo/item by clicking on its number.
|
|
Starting a slide show from an album |
A new "Slideshow" navigation button appears in the photo albums and allows visitors to launch a slide show of the photos directly from the album in an overlay popup. The size of the slideshow window is adjustable depending on the size of the browser window. This option is available in the Design and layout tab of the Topics step (only for album topics).
|
|
Support for HTML color codes |
This feature allows you to enter more accurate colors for your theme and helps you also when you want to give to several theme elements the same color, it is much easier than before since you just have to copy/paste the HTML color code.

New Poll i-Service |
This i-Service allows you to easily create and place polls on your website. Requiring the prior activation and use of i-services, polls that you create can then be placed in paragraphs or information panels of your website. Available from the Settings > i-Services > Poll > Configure step.

New star rating option for the blog service |
This Blog i-Service option allows visitors to add a rating from 1 to 5 stars to your paragraphs. The average rating received by the comment is then displayed above it. This option may be activated from the Settings > i-Services > Blog > Configure step.
|
|
Optimization of picture file names for search engines |
You may now change the names of picture files generated by TOWeb to optimize their ranking. For example you can name a picture "john house.jpg"instead of "bv000012.jpg" (example of default name generated by TOWeb). To access this option, click on the Properties link next to your picture while editing a paragraph and go to the Referencing (SEO) tab.

Attachments and new form fields |
Forms may now contain these new fields: an attachment field that allows visitors to send a file with its form, a date field with calendar, a label field to create sections in the form or insert text between fields, and a URL field for entering the address of a website. In addition, a new option for confirmation of a field requires the user to enter this field twice with the same value. This is useful when one wants to ensure that some sensitive data (email, date, ...) has been correctly entered by the visitor. These new fields are available from the form editing dialog box.

TOWeb portable for mobile working |
It is now possible to transfer TOWeb and the websites of your choice on a USB key to make TOWeb a portable application that allows to work on any (Windows) computer without having to install TOWeb first. This is useful while traveling, on vacation or to work on multiple computers. Available from the Start> Make TOWeb portable step.

Automatic translation with Microsoft Bing Translator |
In your multilingual sites, TOWeb now can automatically translate texts of your website using the Microsoft Bing Translator translation service. This can save you a lot of time while creating a multilingual website, you just have to proofread and correct the automatic translations. You can use the automatic translator from the Start > Languages step in the "Translate TOWeb's predefind texts to..." window or in the "Translate your website texts to..." window.

The management of the shopping cart, e-Commerce options, taxes, payment, delivery modes... has been completely rewritten to be modernized in order to evolve further in the future. Now the checkout process is done through 5 steps (click on the thumbnails above) better identified by the customer and each step can be fully customized. The maximum number of different items per cart is increased to 200. When it is not mentioned, the new features detailed below are accessible from the Settings > e-Commerce step of TOWeb.

Better local and international sales management (including U.S. and Canada) |
You can now finely configure in which countries you want to allow sales and manage the states & departments for any country (not just U.S. and Canada). Once configured, the sales countries may be used in all other settings of the shopping cart (taxes, shipping, payment..) to affect its operation. You may for instance indicate that a product is not available for sale to some countries, require the payment of additional fees for some payment modes (check, wire transfer..) depending on the customer country, change the amount of taxes by countries / states, change the rates of shipping costs by country / department and more...

Delivery Modes |
You may now have products without shipping cost, ie. items whose prices will not be included in the total amount of the order when calculating the shipping rate. It is possible to define shipping rate by countries & states/departments according to the weight of the order or its amount but also according to the numbers of items. If rates are simultaneously based on weight and amount of the order, they will not be cumulative (as in previous versions of TOWeb), it's the lower rate which will be applied to the order. It thus becomes possible for instance to set standard rates based on weight and simultaneously indicate that the shipping costs are free from a certain amount ordered. You can also define shipping modes that will not apply to the total order but only to selected products. For example, a "TV special shipping" that can be applied to your TV product, and which will therefore not taken into account to calculate shipping costs from other products of the order.

New payment modes |
In addition to PayPal, TOWeb now supports online payment of the following banks: MoneyBookers, Ogone, OBC. The deferred payments by check, bank transfer, Western Union and MoneyGram are also pre-defined and may be added with one click to your site. It is also possible now to define an additional charge depending on the payment method selected by the customer and depending on it's country/department (for instance an additional fee for foreign checks or wires).

Improved tax management |
Taxes are now fully customizable, can handle multiple VAT rates, support percent or fixed rates, and you may select which taxes is applied to each product. VAT/Sales taxes are predefined in TOWeb for all EEC countries (VAT), for Canada (GST, PST & HST) and for the USA (Sale Tax) which allows a quick start. Prices may still be entered taxes included (B2C) or taxes excluded (B2B).

Customizable customer form |
In addition to traditional customer field for billing and delivery, you may now add your own custom fields to the form, including the new supported fields (date, URL, label) to enrich and structure your customer order form.
|
|
Enhanced coupons & rebates |
It is now possible to apply conditional rebates to the overall shopping cart, eg 10% rebate from 100 euros of purchase. You may also apply rebates on specific products and in this case calculate rebate according to the quantity ordered, eg "for 3 products bought, 1 offered". You may also now give start and end dates for a coupon or configure a coupon to be active only above a minimum purchase amount.

Improved subproducts management |
Product categories are now fully customizable product by product. You may for instance create 4 categories "Width / Height / Style / Quality" for a product and just 2 categories "Size / Color" to another. There is no longer the limit of the 3 categories with identical names for all items (Color, Size, Type before TOWeb V4). You may also affect a supplement or a price/weight reduction to a value of category. For instance, if you create a category "size" with the 3 values "Small / Medium / Large", you may indicate that the choice "Small" changes the price by -5 and weight by -2 and that the choice "Large" changes the price by +5 and weight by +3. This avoid you to enter the rates for all possible combinations of values when an article has several categories. Finally, in addition to the reference, price and weight, you can now also customize the name of a subproduct. The subproducts management is accessible from the tab Price & stock in the Topics > Edit the topic content step.

Customizable price style and new "strikeout price" |
You may now enter a second price in your products, which will be displayed strikeout on your website aside the normal price. This strikeout price is for display purpose only and is not used anywhere in the shopping cart. You may also customize the way prices are displayed from the Theme > Colors / Font step : you can change the color, style and font size for the prices (normal and strikeout) for visitors to see them better.

Terms of sale |
You may now use formatted text in your terms of sale (with ** //...) which can now be opened from the order form and now appear in an overlay popup which is automatically adjusted to the size of the screen and with the same styles and colors as the rest of your website (and not in B&W). Moreover, you may insert a link to your terms of sale anywhere in your website with the new %TW-TOS% preset field, for instance in the footer of every page of the site or anywhere in the text of a paragraph of a topic.

Receiving orders by email |
You may now receive a carbon copy of the order confirmation mail send to your customers on a secondary email address. A full copy of the order can also be saved on you host space in HTML format for future reference. You also can manage black lists (blacklists) of email and/or IP addresses to prohibit persons from placing orders (eg spammers) or buying again (eg fraudulent).

Export your catalogs to XML or CSV format |
You may now export one or more catalogs to a file in XML or CSV format, for instance to submit your products prices to a shopping search & comparison website. This feature is available while editing a catalog in the Topics step with the icon located above the list of catalog items (next to the icon that displays the catalog as a list/grid).

|
Other e-Commerce features |
- In addition to the common currencies usually using to 2 decimal places (USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, AUD, CHF, ...) TOWeb now manage the sites using e-commerce currency without decimal value (eg the CFA franc, the French Pacific Franc, Yen (JPY), ...) or 3 decimal places (eg the Tunisian Dinar (TND)).
- the stock status is now displayed for all your products to sale on your website (you may disable this behavior from the Settings > E-Commerce > Shopping cart settings) and you can now configure for each products a maximum quantity per order.
- improved products search engine that can now display the reference of products in the results and use the prices style (color, font) defined in the theme step.
- while editing a catalog, the list of items is resized to the entire width of the window as soon as it has at least 7 items/products and if the window of TOWeb is large enough (at least 1024x768 pixels).
