This quick tour will help you to create your very first website and presents the TOWeb's main features.
Start your first website |
| The very first step of TOWeb is the creation of your website. You need to select the type of website you would between a personal web site and a professional or organization web site. Depending on your choice the list of starting topics will be slightly different. |

| Then enter your website title and select your first main interests using the following recommendations : |

Choose your website title |
One of the most important things about your website is its title. In order for people on the Internet to easily find your website, try to make your title as unique as possible (for instance by starting with your last name and first name or the name of your organization).
In addition to this, your title will also be the text that will appear
- in your visitors' bookmarks when they add your website to their favorite links
- in the title bar of your visitors' web browser

Select your very first main interests |
To quickly begin your first website, select the very first main interests you would like to start with among the list of choices. You can start with just a blog or a homepage but we commanding checking at least two choice in order for your website to have more styles than just a single page.
For example if you are starting a personal website you may select : Homepage, About me and Photo Album.
Note : for the demonstration purpose of this tour and your first use of TOWeb keep at least the topic Homepage selected. |

| When you have determined and selected the couple of topics you would like to start with click on the button Start your website located on the bottom bar of TOWeb. |

Generate your very first theme |
| Now you are going to create the very first complete design of your website (general layout, shapes, style and colors) called : the Theme. You can choose to start from a predefined theme by just selecting it in the list or to generate a random theme by clicking on the button corresponding to the element you want to change. Each time you are satisfied with a new result you can add this new theme to your list of Favorites in order to be able to get back to it later. |

When totally or even partially satisfied with the random theme you have obtained, go to the next steps to continue with your topics.
For now and with just few click you already obtained your very first version of your website with a design that you may customize in more details later on. |

Modify your topics content |
Now we are in the Topics management screen (figure below). The list on the left side contains all the current topics present in your web site. You can reorganize your list of topics using the buttons move up and move down. The order you choose is the one you will obtain in the menu of your website and the first topic of your list will be your homepage (commonly named "homepage" or "welcome").
Your homepage is the very first page your visitors will see, so you may take a special care of it. You should normally welcome your visitor by explaining the content or purpose of your site and may also indicate the latest new or last updates you recently added. |

Select your homepage in the list and update its page title in the text field aside. You can adding your name on it like for example Welcome to John's web site. The homepage introduction message located below contains some advices. Replace this text with your own sentences like for example a short text like the following one Today is great day : I am starting my first website where I will discuss about anything I like including my best pictures in photo albums).
IMPORTANT: all modifications made into your website are automatically saved by TOWeb. Consequently, there is no "Save" button and no need for it. |

Then click on the Build and preview button located on the TOWeb's top bar (or hit the F12 key) to preview the result of your changes in your web browser. You may press this button anytime you want to preview the all web pages of your website. Then close your web browser to go back to TOWeb.

| Now we have updated the title and the introduction message of the topic, you are going to modify further the content of your homepage. To do so, click on the Edit the topic content button located below the list. You should obtain a screen similar to the following one : |

| In the picture group box of this screen, click on the Browse button. This will open the picture browser window from where you can select a picture located on your computer (or a image from the clipart gallery if you do not any digital picture) |

Select a picture and validate your choice by clicking on the "OK" button.
Then replace the default text content of this paragraph with your own comments and according to the new picture you have just placed. |

Note : You also may try to change the paragraph layout by the selecting the last layout (see figure aside). This will place your text before the picture. If you prefer to have your picture before your text, leave the layout to the first choice of this list.

Click again on the Build and preview button to see your new result. You may continue to try other features such as changing Size & Frame of your picture for instance or continue to update, add or delete other paragraphs in this topic.
When finished click on the button Back to topics. From there you may continue to modify other topics, add new ones, or just decide to leave everything like this for now and update it later.
In these few steps you have already discovered the essential parts of TOWeb and created your very first personal website by yourself. A website with already a unique design that you may want to customize (or restart) and with a content you have already started to personalize.

Your first publication on the Internet |
| If you are already satisfied with your website or just want to discover the final step of TOWeb, then go to the Publish step : |

To be able to publish your website to the Internet you will the username and password communicated to you by your Internet Service Provider or company hosting your web pages. Click on the Publish your site button and follow the instructions to enter your Internet login and password. Just press the Publish now ! button and wait until completion of the upload : your website is now available to everyone on the Internet. And ... voila !
