This page presents all the global or advanced parameters located in the TOWeb's Settings.

Security options |
TOWeb offers different opportunities and level of protection to preserve the confidentiality of certain information contained in your site and allow you to restrict access to certain people for some of your topic.
Protect your email addresses
All email addresses you enter into the text paragraphs of your site are automatically encrypted by TOWeb in order to remain visible and usable by your visitors but not visible by internet robots so that they can detect nor extract your email addresses when they analyze the content of web site and so they will not send you any spam. This automatic protection from TOWeb does not require any configuration to be active, its effective at all times on your site. Furthermore to avoid receiving spams from malicious robots or scripts too, the web forms on your site can be protected by visual codes called captcha. This protection level forms can be activated from screen "Settings > Security" by using then option Add a "captcha" code verification to your forms. Note: if, for a particular form on a topic of your website, you want to disable this you can do it by checking the option "Disable the captcha security form" located in the properties window of your form.
Protect the images on your site
When activated, the options Disable right click menu on your website and Hide the Internet Explorer toolbar displayed over the pictures of your website prevent visitors to do any simple leeching of your images by simply clicking on them. However, if this option will prevent the vast majority of users to retrieve images with a simple mouse click. The fact remains that this system does not provide absolute protection and as your images are downloadable and visible some persons may use website download software or even make a print screen capture to reuse the images of your website. So if you want to protect as much as possible your images we advise you to also use the image editor of TOWeb (accessible from the "Edit" button located next to your picture) in order to add a text over them, a text containing for instance your name, a copyright message or the address of your website.
Restrict the access to certain topics of your site
From the screen Settings > Security, first enter the title of your protected pages and the message information that will be displayed to your visitors when they will try to access a protected topic of your website. Then TOWeb proposes 2 different protection types to restrict user access to a topic of your site. |
|
1) protect the access with just a simple password To protect your web pages you need to use the options located under the Privacy tab of your topics. From there you can choose to protect a topic with a password. From the Internet version of your website this password will only need to be entered once every hour, this in order to facilitate the website navigation of your visitors. And locally on your machine when you preview your website, the password behavior is slightly different in order to allow you to test but also easily maintain your site : if you edit the content of a protected topic and start a preview you will not be prompted to enter a password, otherwise you will systematically have to enter it.
2) protect the access with a .htaccess file More secured than just a password, the protection requires that your host provider supports the .htaccess file. If you don't know yet if .htaccess files are authorized on your web space, please contact your host provider to determine if you can use this service. For more information please visit the page: how to use the .htaccess protection.
